Environmentally sound and efficient, Brupeg can run on used vegetable oil!
Any vegetable oil on board will displace Diesel fuel. Our main engine is capable of running at full capacity on Filtered/Dried Waste Cooking Oil. The reason we use waste oil is both cost and environmental impact. Diesel is $1.50 per liter in Australia, waste oil is $0.05 - $0.28c per liter. It also is significantly better environmentally and has higher lubricating properties than low-sulfur diesel, promoting longer engine life.

Transmission: Advance HC138, 4:1 reduction driving a 46 inch four blade prop housed in a nozzle with guards.
Speed & Fuel Consumption: Cruising speed 7knots @ 18-22L per hour, Max Speed 10-11knots burning 63L per hour
Fuel & Water: 9,000L of fuel spread over 4 tanks, 7,000L of potable water spread across 2 tanks
Future Fuel & Water: 27,500L of fuel split across 10 tanks, 500L of water and a large capacity water maker.
Accommodations: Brupeg will comfortably sleep 9, across four cabins. with onboard media area for editing our documentaries, Full sized kitchen & a lounge room extending out to a large flat rear deck.
The History
We brought Brupeg in 2014 after she had sunk in a flood. It was love at first sight. She was a stripped-out steel hull about to be cut up for recycling. We had a pretty specific set of requirements and it took us four years to find the right boat. The places we want to go are often hostile and demanding and need a strong hull so it had to be steel to cope with the conditions, it’s likely we’ll be pushing through sea ice for days or coping with 60 knots + pretty regularly. To reach remote places where refueling is difficult or impossible we need ultra-long range and we want to share our travels so it has to accommodate and feed a good number of people comfortably.
A big part of the adventure for us is building Brupeg. The engineering challenges, completing jobs, creating systems, seeing the progress, and knowing it’s getting us closer to our goal. Once we're in the water we’ll complete the interior fit-out and all of the systems testing and sea trials.
